The Bali Tourism Polytechnic (Poltekpar Bali), through its Human Resources Department, held a Pre-Retirement Preparation Training for civil servants (PNS) who are scheduled to retire in 2026. The training took place on May 6–7, 2025, in Bandung, West Java, and was attended by nine participants: Ir. I Nyoman Sukana Sabudi, M.P., Lidjah Magdalena Massenga, S.E., M.M., Desak Nyoman Wati, S.Sos., I Nyoman Darmika, I Gusti Agung Made Rai, Ni Wayan Wati, Ngakan Putu Putra, I Wayan Suja, and Putu Sardika.
The training aimed to comprehensively prepare participants—psychologically, physically, financially, and socially—for the transition into retirement. Using an educational, consultative, and participatory approach, this initiative represents a concrete step by the campus to support the well-being of its human resources until the final phase of their service.
Over the course of three days, participants received essential materials on topics including retirement psychology and mental health, financial management and investment planning, productive post-retirement activities, healthy living habits and physical healthcare, as well as experience-sharing sessions with successful retirees. To enhance practical learning, participants also took part in a field trip focused on hydroponic farming training, offering a positive and productive alternative activity during retirement. Besides promoting health and serving as a hobby, this activity also presents promising opportunities for home-based businesses. In the hands-on session, participants were introduced to simple hydroponic techniques that can be easily implemented at home.
The training was warmly received by participants, who not only gained theoretical insights but also felt motivated to plan for an active, healthy, and independent future. The program also provided space for reflection and discussion among participants, strengthening the sense of camaraderie as they approach the end of their careers.
With full support from the leadership and management of the Bali Tourism Polytechnic, it is hoped that participants will view retirement not as the end of productivity, but as the beginning of a new phase of life filled with meaning and potential.
