Batuan, Gianyar – May 16-17, 2025. Bali Tourism Polytechnic, through its Food Service Program (TAH), held a Community Service Program (PKM) event in Batuan Village, Gianyar. This PKM activity marks the first of 2025 and focuses on increasing the community’s understanding of excellent service, raising awareness about the importance of hygiene and sanitation in services, and improving the community’s skills in beverage presentation, coffee break setup, and table manners.
This training is crucial to support understanding of food and beverage service on both national and international scales, which can contribute to tourism activities in Batuan Village.
Batuan Village is often involved in events hosting important individuals and tourists, so there is a recognized need to provide short training on beverage presentation for the community, particularly for those engaged in tourism activities. The availability of quality food and beverage facilities at a tourist destination greatly influences the image of the destination in the eyes of tourists. This training is essential to improve tourism in Batuan Village.
In his opening remarks, I Gusti Agung Febrianto, S.Par., M.Par., the Vice Chairman of the PKM Committee, emphasized the importance of this activity as part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, carried out by the lecturers of Bali Tourism Polytechnic. “This activity aligns with one of the missions and goals of Bali Tourism Polytechnic to improve the quality of life of the community, especially in the tourism sector,” he stated.
Ari Anggara, the Head of Batuan Village, expressed his enthusiasm for the program: “We hope to collaborate again with Bali Tourism Polytechnic in the future, with different themes and presentations.”
This two-day training involved lecturers and students from the Food Service Program of Bali Tourism Polytechnic. The topics covered included: Improving Community Service Quality with Excellent Service, Hygiene and Sanitation: The Basic Foundation for Providing Public Service, Service Etiquette in Banquet Events, Coffee Break Setup Techniques, and Table Manners: One of the Keys to Socializing in Professional and Social Worlds.
A total of 30 participants, including members of the PKK (Family Welfare Program) and private employees in the hospitality sector, attended the training to enhance their skills in food and beverage service, especially for welcoming domestic and international guests. The Head of Batuan Village welcomed this initiative and hoped that such activities would continue to improve the quality of human resources in Batuan Village.
