In commemoration of World Environment Day on June 5, 2025, a Clean-Up Action was held as part of the national movement “Ending Plastic Pollution” initiated by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. The event involved various elements of society, including the active support of Bali Tourism Polytechnic (Poltekpar Bali). Through the participation of its academic community, Poltekpar Bali reaffirmed its commitment to environmental preservation and public education on the importance of waste management, particularly in supporting efforts to create clean and sustainable tourism destinations.
This action also forms part of the Clean Tourism Movement (Gerakan Wisata Bersih / GWB) launched by the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia. As a vocational higher education institution in the tourism sector, Bali Tourism Polytechnic fully supports this initiative by mobilizing students, lecturers, and educators in educational activities and environmental awareness campaigns. “Cleanliness is a vital component of a destination’s image. Therefore, the involvement of young tourism professionals in protecting the environment is a strategic step toward sustainable tourism,” stated Dr. Drs. Ida Bagus Putu Puja, M.Kes., Director of Poltekpar Bali.
Beyond direct participation, Bali Tourism Polytechnic also plays a role in strengthening understanding of the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) within campus life and daily activities. The event was not only focused on cleaning efforts but also served as an educational platform to shape environmentally conscious student character. Short discussions and outreach programs were also conducted for the surrounding community as part of the institution’s dedication to public service.
Bali Tourism Polytechnic’s commitment to environmental stewardship aligns with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goals 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and 13 (Climate Action). Support for the Clean-Up Action further establishes Poltekpar Bali as an active partner in creating a clean, healthy, and eco-friendly tourism ecosystem. Through cross-sector collaboration and educational approaches, Bali Tourism Polytechnic continues to drive environmental awareness within the tourism industry.
The event, which was attended by Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa, Minister of Environment Dr. Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, and Bali Governor Wayan Koster, was part of the official 2025 World Environment Day celebration. Bali Tourism Polytechnic, along with 50 students, participated in the activity held at the Tsunami/Baruna Shelter in Kuta.
