Batuan, Gianyar – The Travel Business Study Program of the Bali Tourism Polytechnic (Poltekpar Bali) reaffirmed its commitment to community-based tourism development through a Community Service Program held on May 22–23, 2025, at Taman Puspa Aman Winangun, Batuan Village, Gianyar.
The event was led by Program Coordinator Made Artajaya, S.Pd., M.Si., and was attended by 30 participants representing local tourism awareness groups (Pokdarwis), village-owned enterprises (BUMDes), tourism practitioners, and representatives from all hamlets (banjar) in Batuan Village. The training aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge and practical skills in managing local tourism potential.
The event was officially opened by the Head of the Center for Research and Community Service at Poltekpar Bali, Dr. Putu Diah Sastri Pitanatri, S.ST.Par., M.Par., and was also attended by the Head of Batuan Village, Ari Anggara. In her remarks, Dr. Diah Sastri emphasized that the program is a tangible manifestation of Poltekpar Bali’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of local communities to develop competitive tourism products with strong local character. She also highlighted the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions and communities in building sustainable tourism.
On the first day, participants received presentations on strategies for developing tourism packages based on local potential, effective storytelling techniques, and analysis of village tourist attractions. The materials were delivered by lecturers from the Travel Business Study Program, who served as facilitators. Participants were guided to identify and highlight Batuan Village’s unique local strengths, craft compelling narratives, and analyze various attractions to be marketed as core components of tourism products.
The training continued on the second day with a field practice session. Participants worked in groups to design thematic tour packages, develop engaging storytelling narratives, and map out the village’s tourist attractions.
According to Village Head Ari Anggara, the training provided significant added value for the community. He expressed hope that the training outcomes could be implemented promptly and developed into flagship tourism products capable of attracting visitors while positively impacting the local economy. He also appreciated Poltekpar Bali’s ongoing support in assisting the community and promoting the village’s potential to broader markets.
At the end of the program, participants expressed enthusiasm to continue developing sustainable village tourism products. Poltekpar Bali reaffirmed its commitment to providing further support through follow-up training sessions and field study programs involving students, enabling direct observation and evaluation of the tourism packages created by Batuan Village. This aims to ensure continuous development and optimal benefits for the community.
The Coordinator of the Travel Business Study Program, Ni Putu Evi Wijayanti, S.E., M.Par., expressed hope that this model of community empowerment based on local potential could be replicated in other tourism villages, not only in Bali but throughout Indonesia, as part of an effort to foster inclusive, creative, and sustainable tourism.
