Karangasem, April 26, 2025 – The Off-Campus Study Program (PSDKU) of Bali Tourism Polytechnic Manado City Campus, through its Convention and Event Management Program, carried out a Community Service (PKM) activity in Tenganan Dauh Tukad Village, Karangasem. This initiative reflects the institution’s commitment to supporting community-based tourism development in Bali’s traditional villages.
The PKM program featured two main activities. On the first day, faculty members and students involved in the project attended the perang pisang (banana war), a unique cultural ritual of Tenganan Dauh Tukad. Their participation aimed to strengthen the relationship between the academic community and local residents while deepening cultural understanding as a foundation for developing tourism events.
The second day was dedicated to a training session titled “Training and Content Creation for Event Marketing in Tenganan Dauh Tukad Village.” The event featured three expert speakers: Putu Surya Laksana Rahjasa, who presented “Events as a Tool for Destination Promotion”; Ni Kadek Swandewi with a session on “Event Marketing”; and I Gede Made Sukariyanto, who conducted a workshop on “Content Editing” for digital promotion purposes.
The training session was officially opened by Dr. Diah Sastri Pitanatri, Head of the Research and Community Service Center at Bali Tourism Polytechnic, representing the Director of the institution. In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of collaboration between vocational higher education and local communities in developing sustainable tourism destinations.
The program ran smoothly and was warmly received by the community. I Wayan Tisna, the traditional leader (Bendesa Adat) of Tenganan Dauh Tukad, expressed his appreciation for Poltekpar Bali’s involvement, noting that this was the first academic engagement in nearly two decades. “Poltekpar Bali brings a fresh perspective and new knowledge in event-based promotion, which aligns well with our village’s rich ceremonial traditions,” he said.
It is hoped that through this initiative, the local community will become better equipped to manage and promote events using digital platforms while staying rooted in local wisdom, ultimately enhancing the competitiveness of Tenganan Dauh Tukad as a traditional tourism village in the digital era.
