LECTURERS CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT THROUGH SVEB TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION: MARCHING TOWARDS THE GLOBAL STANDARD OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY

In order to uphold its dedication to enhancing vocational higher education in tourism and hospitality, Bali Tourism Polytechnic (BITP) has involved in the professional development of four lecturers. This development culminated in the attainment of SVEB Certification (Swiss Federation for Adult Learning), an internationally recognised credential that validates the ability of educators to implement international standards in adult learning. Swisscontact and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy are collaborating to implement the programme via the Sustainable Tourism Education Development (STED) Project.

By doing the hosting of Phase 3 of the program, Bali Tourism Polytechnic has actively participated in the implementation of the SVEB Certification for the lecturers of the Tourism Polytechnic under the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. From January 22 to January 26, 2024, the occasion was held in the Postgraduate Building of Bali Tourism Polytechnic (BiTP). The achievement of the endeavour incorporates every element of the campus. Students actively participate in event coordination and service provision at the Kamala Hotel and Resort, the hotel laboratory, or Teaching Factory (TEFA) of Bali Tourism Polytechnic (BiTP).

The Phase 1 and Phase 2 of SVEB Training was held in Jakarta and Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern (SHL), Switzerland, respectively, in October and November 2023. Participants in the training acquire expertise and practical knowledge in the domain of Andragogy, the adult learning approach, which is highly applicable to the instruction of vocational higher education. Dr. I Gusti Agung Gede Witarsana, S.ST.Par., M.M., CHE., Anak Agung Gede Putra K.P. Dalem, S.E., M.Par., Setyowati Ayu Widuri, S.E., M Par., and Made Uttari Pitanatri, S.ST.Par., M.Par., are the lecturers of Bali Tourism Polytechnic (BiTP) who have successfully completed the training and certification processes. These top achievers would have a significant role as the “agent of change” the enhancement of vocational higher education quality at Bali Tourism Polytechnic (BITP), ensuring that it adheres to global standards.
