Community Service

Community service activities at the Bali Tourism Polytechnic are categorized into four forms, namely:

  • Socialization, namely conveying or socializing one or more topics related to tourism and hospitality to community groups and industry within a certain time period. This socialization activity is the result of problem identification and situation analysis carried out previously by study program lecturers regarding an existing region and/or destination, both in Bali and outside Bali, especially in the BTS, Mandalika and Labuan Bajo areas. The aim of this activity is to increase participants’ knowledge of a particular concept or topic.
  • Training, is an activity carried out by lecturers of certain study programs for community groups and the tourism industry, with the aim of improving the skills of training participants in certain fields. In this training activity, participants are invited to practice something, so that at the end of the program, training participants understand and are more skilled at working on or making products, as well as improving services in certain fields. Often in training activities, a number of materials and equipment are needed to support the implementation of these activities.
  • Mentoring is provided by lecturers in certain study programs to the community or the tourism and hospitality industry, with the aim of increasing the capacity of those being mentored, so that they are able to develop their businesses. This mentoring activity is carried out over a fairly long period of time (at least one semester), where the output of this mentoring is that people who receive mentoring can be more independent in managing their activities and businesses.

Coaching, more emphasis is placed on business development activities and activities carried out by the community, after socialization, training and mentoring activities have been carried out. Coaching is carried out continuously, according to the time period of collaboration carried out by the Bali Tourism Polytechnic with the regional government, DTW and business managers who are invited to collaborate in the area.

So this Community Service activity is a continuous activity that must be carried out by study program lecturers, so that the activities are not hit and run, they just change places every time but the topic is the same. Community service activities should be sustainable, starting from analyzing the situation or implementing research results, conducting outreach, training, mentoring and guidance to the community and/or industry in the same location, so that there is a complete series of community service activities with clear and measurable output.

a. The implementation of research carried out by lecturers is regulated in the Technical Guidelines or Research and Community Service Guidelines for the Tourism Polytechnic.
